Applications being accepted for WCPS Magnet Program

Applications are now being accepted for the 2012-13 Magnet Program in Washington County Public Schools.

The program is offered at Boonsboro, Emma K. Doub, Fountaindale and Williamsport elementary schools and Boonsboro, E. Russell Hicks and Springfield middle schools.

Application packets are available from any elementary and middle school, from the Office of Advanced Programs, 820 Commonwealth Ave., Hagerstown, or from the county school website at www.wcps.k12.md.us, according to a school system news release.

Each school with a magnet program has scheduled an open house to present more information about the programs and application process.

The deadline for magnet program applications is Friday, Dec. 2.

The following is the schedule for the open houses, all of which begin at 6 p.m.:

  • Sept. 15 — Williamsport Elementary School Magnet Program for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
  • Sept. 19 — Springfield Middle School Magnet Program for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
  • Sept. 22 — Fountaindale Elementary School Magnet Program for the Arts and Academic Excellence
  • Oct. 5 — Boonsboro Elementary School Magnet Program for World Languages and Global Communication
  • Oct. 11 — Boonsboro Middle School Magnet Program for World Languages and Global Communication
  • Oct. 13 — E. Russell Hicks Middle School Magnet Program for Media Technology, the Humanities and Communication
  • Nov. 7 — Emma K. Doub Elementary School Magnet Program for Integrated Arts and Technology
