HAGERSTOWN — A Fayetteville, Pa., man was taken to Meritus Medical Center east of Hagers-town after the motorcycle he was driving struck two vehicles Sunday afternoon.

Jeramiah Steven Dile, 26, was traveling northbound on U.S. 11 north of Hagerstown at about 3:30 p.m. when he failed to notice two vehicles stopped to turn left onto Northaven Street, according to a news release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

That area is north of Maugans Avenue, north of Hagerstown.

Dile made a failed attempt to avoid the vehicles by going around them at the center line, police said.

The 1980 Yamaha Dual Purpose motorcycle Dile was riding struck the right side of a 2010 Kia Forte before continuing north and striking the rear of a 2003 Pontiac, police said.

Dile was taken to Meritus with serious but nonlife-threatening injuries, police said. He was listed in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

No other injuries were reported.

Police said Dile was charged with failure to control speed to avoid an accident, driving without a license and driving a vehicle on highway without required license class.
