Woman injured after falling asleep at wheel in I-70 accident

CLEAR SPRING — A Silver Spring, Md., woman was taken to Meritus Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries after she fell asleep at the wheel Sunday morning and ran off Interstate 70, where the passenger side of her car struck a tree, Maryland State Police said.


Christine Lee, 36, was the sole occupant of the Mazda 6, state police said.


The car left the westbound lane of I-70 between the Clear Spring and Big Pool exits, and went into a wooded area, according to Washington County Emergency Services. The accident was reported at 5:52 a.m. Sunday.
