Franklin County Emergency Services reports

The following incidents were reported by Franklin County Emergency Services:


  • At 11:06 p.m., a traffic accident at the intersection of Kohler and Walker roads in Greene Township.


  • At 12:21 a.m., a vehicle fire in the 1000 block of Lincoln Way West in Hamilton Township.
  • At 12:35 a.m., a fire alarm in the 200 block of North Main Street in Chambersburg.
  • At 2:02 a.m., a fire alarm in the 100 block of Walnut Bottom Road in Shippensburg Township.
  • At 7:28 a.m., a fire alarm in the 700 block of Norland Avenue.

Hagerstown man hurt in Pa. crash

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — A Maryland man was flown to York (Pa.) Hospital following a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on Old Forge Road in Quincy Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Karl Kirkpatrick, 25, of Hagerstown, was driving a 2008 Jeep Patriot north at 1:47 p.m. when it crossed the center line and struck a1995 Ford F-150 driven by Cynthia E. Rock, 35, of Fayetteville, Pa., police said.

Kirkpatrick was listed in satisfactory condition Friday morning at York Hospital, a spokesman for the hospital said. Rock and her passenger were uninjured, police said.


Almost $650 stolen from Chambersburg Walmart

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police were investigating the theft of almost $650 by a person who went into Walmart at 1730 Lincoln Way East to buy a beverage Wednesday.

Police said the person bought the beverage and then requested change on three separate occasions, each time taking both the change and the bill that the person had placed on the counter. A total of $649.95 was taken, police said.

Police provided no description of the person.

Chambersburg motorcyclist injured in crash

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A motorcyclist was flown to York (Pa.) Hospital on Thursday morning after a collision on the 3200 block of Molly Pitcher Highway, Pennsylvania State Police said.

James McDaniel, no age or address, of Chambersburg, was listed in serious condition Friday morning, a hospital spokesman said.

McDaniel was riding a 1980 Harley-Davidson north at 5:24 a.m. when a southbound 2010 Chevrolet cargo van driven by Charles Gallagher of Landisville, Pa., turned into his path, police said.

McDaniel was initially treated at Chambersburg Hospital and then flown to York, police said.

Man injured in crash on Buck Valley Road

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. — A Warfordsburg, Pa., man had minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash Thursday morning that closed Buck Valley Road for about 45 minutes, Pennsylvania State Police in Fulton County said.

David L. Bishop, 59, was driving a 1981 Ford truck east at 9:20 a.m. when the vehicle went off the road and struck a road sign, police said. The vehicle then struck a utility pole, police said.

The road was closed while a power company crew assessed damage to the utility pole, police said.

Bishop refused treatment for his injuries, police said.
