CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. —

CraftWorks at Cool Spring, 1469 Lloyd Road, Charles Town, will host a grand opening and open house 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.

The ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. will be followed by a tour of Jefferson County's new arts venue by the builder Al Cobb of PanelWrights. The new studio uses recycled and re-used materials.

Craftworks celebrates the opening of its Cool Spring Studio after nearly two years of planning and construction by PanelWrights. Built in the style of a bank barn, the upstairs features a vaulted ceiling of reclaimed wood and plenty of light for "clean" classes like drawing, music, yoga and dance, while the downstairs, garden-level studio is for messier classes like painting and clay sculpting.

The grand opening will include a variety of activities, including demonstrations with the teaching artists, craft activities for kids and guided walks through the beautiful trails of Cool Spring. The event will also feature local musicians. Attendees are encouraged to car pool to the event.

CraftWorks at Cool Spring is a nonprofit education center bringing quality instruction in craft, arts and natural science to the community.
