Kevin Proctor had a goal and an assist, and Casey Bartholomew and Rodrigo Reyna each added a goal as St Maria Goretti edged Broadfroding Christian 3-2 on Thursday night.

Drew Katrina made eight saves and John Winalski added five saves for St. Maria Goretti (2-1).

Broadfording fell to 1-2.

St. John’s CP 2, Saint James 1

ST. JAMES — St. John’s Catholic Prep scored the winning goal midway through the second half to defeat Saint James in the Saints’ season opener.

After a scoreless first half, SJCP got on the board in the first minute of the second half. The Saints (0-1) came right back in the next minute when Mason Redmond set up Dong Hao Liu’s equalizer.

Zuojun Gong made four saves for Saint James, which finished with an 8-7 edge in shots on goal.


Musselman 3, Goretti 1

INWOOD, W.Va. — Theresa Barton scored the Gaels’ only goal on an assist by Alexis Barone in a loss to the Applemen.

Jenna Katrina made five saves for Goretti.


Frankfort 3, Berkeley Springs 0

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Casey Solomon had six kills and two blocks for Berkeley Springs, but the Indians lost their opener to Frankfort, 25-13, 25-13, 25-15.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Michael Spadine scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Le Moyne over Shepherd University.

Le Moyne (1-0) had a 10-4 edge in shots and an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Edgar Lopez Zuniga made two saves for the Rams (0-1).


Millersville 3, Shepherd 2

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — Kelsey Smith scored a pair of goals for Shepherd University, but host Millersville held on for a victory in the West Virginia Conference.

Shepherd (0-1) took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted tally by Smith in the fourth minute. Millersville (1-0) scored the next two for a 2-1 halftime lead.

Smith tied the game at 2 in the 65th minute, but Kelsey Mattola scored the winner on a pass from Taylor Suskie in the 81st minute.

Junior Tessa Jones made six saves for the Rams.
