Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on northbound Interstate 81, Maryland State Police Trooper Ryan Shaffer said.

At about 12:12 p.m., a Chevrolet sedan being driven on the ramp from eastbound I-70 onto northbound I-81 spun out of control and hit the guardrail in the far left lane of I-81, Shaffer said.

The car had two people in it, and both were taken to Meritus Medical Center, Shaffer said. Police did not release their names.

The car came to rest facing southbound against the guardrail along the far left lane of northbound I-81 and remained there until about 12:45 p.m., when Shaffer drove it across the interstate to the right shoulder.

In addition to Maryland State Police,  a special engine from the Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway and an ambulance from Williamsport Emergency Medical Services were also on the scene, Shaffer said.
