Labor Day closings

City of Hagerstown

Hagerstown will observe Labor Day on Monday. City Hall offices will be closed.

  • Trash — There will be no trash collection Monday, and the landfill is closed. All trash and recycling collection during the week will be delayed by one day.  

Washington County

All offices of Washington County government will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day.
  • Commissioners — There will not be a meeting of the Washington County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday due to the holiday.
  • Parks — County parks will be open Monday, and the swimming pool at Martin L. "Marty" Snook Park in Halfway will be open from noon until 6 p.m.
  • County Commuter — County Commuter Transit services will not operate on Monday, but will be in operation Tuesday.
  • Landfill — The 40-West Landfill and all transfer stations will be closed Monday, but will operate on a normal schedule Tuesday.
  • Essential functions — Public safety and emergency personnel will perform duties as required.

State of Maryland

State offices will be closed today and Monday, Sept. 5, excluding Unemployment Insurance offices, which will be open today.

Boonsboro

The Town of Boonsboro will observe Labor Day on Monday. Town Hall will be closed.

Chamber of Commerce

The Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce will be closed Monday.

U.S. Postal Service

All post offices in the Baltimore District, comprised of ZIP codes beginning with 210-219, will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday.

Post offices will operate on adjusted retail hours today and Saturday, with revised hours posted at each post office.

Regular mail delivery for today and Saturday will be unaffected by the lobby service schedule changes.

Postal box customers will have access to their boxes on those two days, according to the retail units' scheduled hours of operation posted at each post office.

Frederick County

Frederick County government offices will be closed on Monday for the holiday. Offices will reopen at their regularly scheduled times on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

  • Frederick County Public Libraries will be closed on Sunday and Labor Day.
  • Curbside recycling — The Landfill and Reichs Ford Road Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, and there will be no curbside recycling collection. All recycling collections for the week will be shifted one day later than their normal schedule.
  • Transit Services — No services will be in operation on the holiday.
  • Board of Elections and Department of Social Services — As part of the state government's service reduction days, both offices will be closed on Friday and Monday.
