August 31, 2011

ORRSTOWN, Pa. — The Pa. 433 (Tanyard Hill Road) bridge over the Conodoguinet Creek reopened to traffic at 3 p.m. Wednesday after being closed since May 19, 2010, according to a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation news release.

The bridge closed for replacement and was scheduled to open to traffic in April. However, a fire damaged portions of the new bridge, the news release stated.

Jay Fulkroad & Sons Inc. of McAlisterville, Pa., served as the contractor for the $1.2 million project, the news release stated.

The concrete box beam bridge is between Lurgan and Southampton townships. About 1,500 vehicles cross it daily, according to the release.
