Pen Mar Park concerts continue

The Holders will perform Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Pen Mar Park as the summer music series continues.  

Art association milestone

Valley Art Association will celebrate its 20th anniversary at the Mansion House Art Center in Hagerstown City Park Friday, Sept. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Mansion House is behind City Park, off Key Street. The event will include music and light refreshments.

Church to host back-to-school party

Bethel United Methodist Church will celebrate going back to school with a get-together on Sunday, Sept. 4, beginning at 1 p.m. at Lions Community Park, 12835 Bikle Road in Smithsburg.

The event will feature Phil Petry's pork barbecue as well as other homemade dishes. The community is invited to attend.

Chewsville Lions news

The Chewsville Lions Club and the Longmeadow Lions Club will be in a joint venture, along with other area Lions Clubs, providing a variety of festival foods for the Volvo Powertrain Power Day Open House on Saturday, Sept. 17, celebrating 50 years in the Hagerstown area.

Chewsville will have its fried ham sandwiches, and Longmeadow will have its pulled pork sandwiches along with hot dogs and chili dogs. Other Lions clubs are providing their specialties, as well. 

Chewsville Lions will hold its annual yard sale Saturday, Sept. 24, along Jefferson Boulevard. Food will be available.
