Dog Day at the Pool set for Sept. 10 in Waynesboro

August 29, 2011

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The second annual Dog Day at the Pool will be Saturday, Sept. 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Northside Pool, borough officials said Monday.

The event, which attracted more than 50 dogs and their owners last year, is a fundraiser for the nearby Northside Dog Park, which opened earlier this year.

Admission to the swim costs $5 for dog and owner, and $5 for each additional person or dog.

Only two dogs per person are permitted.

Event organizer Wayne Driscoll, a Waynesboro Borough Council member, said proceeds will be used to add a water feature to the dog park for next year.

“It’s a fun time, please come out and join us,” said Driscoll, who took his dog to the event last year.

The dog park is a fenced-in area just north of Northside Pool.

Participants also are asked to bring an unopened bag of dog food that will be donated to the Antietam Humane Society in Waynesboro.

Driscoll said Northside Pool will be open its final weekend of the season on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
