Penelope Sue “Penny” Murphy, 60, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at her home.

Born in Kingwood, W.Va., on Aug. 19, 1951, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Betty L. Cozad Graham.

Penny was a 1969 graduate of Hancock High School and worked for 33 years for Western Maryland State Hospital as a licensed practical nurse.

She was a member of Little Falls Presbyterian Church in Falling Waters, W.Va., a member of Women of the Moose, American Legion Post 26 Auxiliary, Hancock, Md., and the IORM Red Feather Council 59 Degree of Pocahontas, Williamsport, Md.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne “Bee” Murphy, in 2006.

Penny is survived by two brothers, John R. Graham Jr. of Millersville, Md., and Thomas R. Graham of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Melissa L. Bivens.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, MD 21795, on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at 9 a.m. at Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Hancock, with the Rev. Carl D. Howard officiating.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Little Falls Presbyterian Church, 6788 Williamsport Pike, Falling Waters, WV 25419, with the Rev. Carl D. Howard officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
