Roy Aldine Magaha, 76, of 1007 Queen Anne's Court, Hagerstown, Md., died on Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born Oct. 28, 1934, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late James Roy and Orpha Zellers Magaha.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marines.

He was employed for 28 years with the former Maryland Department of Correction, retiring in 1994.

He was a member of Greencastle American Legion, Post 373; a life member of Hagerstown Marine Corps League; a life member of VFW Post 1936; a member of Williamsport Redmen, Conococheague Tribe No. 84; and an active volunteer with Toys for Tots.

He is survived by one daughter, Teresa Reese of Sterling, Va.; one son, Stephen Magaha of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Stephanie Reese, Brandon Magaha, Sarah Magaha and Chris McAllister; one great-grandson, Liam Magaha; a longtime companion and friend, Joyce Taylor and family; and a special niece, Linda Powers.

He was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.

There will be no service.

Family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Marine Corps League will serve as the honor guard.
