Robert Harrison Price, 83, of Little Orleans, Md., died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at NMS Health Care in Hagerstown, Md.
Born Feb. 29, 1928, in Belle Grove, Md., he was the son of the late William Henry Harrison and Viola Evelyn Barnes Price, and the husband of the late Patricia Nadine McCusker, who died Sept. 10, 1990.
He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army with the 7th Division, 17th Regiment, Co. C, during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart and the U.N. Service Medal.
He retired in 1987 from Mack Trucks after 26 years. He previously had been employed in logging, the Maryland Wildlife Administration, Fairchild Industries and the National Park Service.
He was a member of Webster B. Harrison American Legion Post 26 of Hancock, Md., and he attended Piney Plains United Methodist Church in Little Orleans.
He is survived by one son, Robert L. "Tad" Price and wife, Connie, of Little Orleans; four sisters, Gladys Sigel, Helen Stahle, June Schriever and Yvonne McLean, all of Warfordsburg, Pa.; granddaughter, Shauna Price of Clearville, Pa.; and grandson, Dakota Price of Little Orleans.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Eileen Carpenter.
A service will be Friday Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. at Piney Plains United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Close officiating. Burial, with a military graveside service by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Little Orleans.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
