Hagerstown man charged in CVS Pharmacy robbery

HAGERSTOWN — A 45-year-old Hagerstown man has been charged in a robbery of the CVS Pharmacy on East Wilson Boulevard last Friday in which narcotics were stolen, according to the Hagerstown Police Department.

William David McCullough, of 155 Summit Ave., Apt. 2, has been charged with armed robbery, robbery, theft less than $1,000 and second-degree assault, according to a news release.

McCullough was being held at the Washington County Detention Center, the release said.

The robbery occurred about 6:26 p.m. Friday. A  man wearing a red hooded jacket and dark jeans entered the CVS store at 10 E. Wilson  Blvd. and gave a note to pharmacists demanding narcotics, the release said.

An undisclosed amount of narcotics was taken.

A photograph of the robber, captured by a CVS security camera, was provided to local media, the release said.

On Sunday, city police were contacted by a person who told them he recognized the person in the photo, the release said.

Members of the police department’s criminal investigation division subsequently arrested McCullough, the release said.
