Luther Galen "Eugene" Weller, age 65, of Hancock, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md.

Born Oct. 24, 1945, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Luther E. and Winfred G. McGowan Weller.

He retired from Maryland State Highway Administration.

He was a former member of the North American Hunting Club, the Tonoloway Rod and Gun Club, Hancock; the Hancock Sportsman's Club; the Webster B. Harrison Sons of the American Legion, Hancock; the Hancock Little League, and he attended the Hancock Church of God.

He is survived by four daughters, Michelle McCarty and Margory Smith of Hagerstown, and Laura Robair Bivens and Cheryl Robair of Hancock; two sons, Michael Weller of St. Augustine, Fla., and Stephen Robair of Hedgesville, W.Va.; four sisters, Lori Oyler of Falling Waters, W.Va., Sherry Weller of Boonsboro, Md., Linda Ladanyi of Pasadena, Md., and Janice Billet of Red Lion, Pa.; four brothers, Kevin Weller of Clear Spring, Md., Terry Weller of Joppa, Md., Kerry Weller of Emmitsburg, Md., and David Weller of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Dunlevy; two brothers, Charles Weller and Steven Weller; one grandson, Nathan Hampe; and one great-grandson, Landon Showen.

A service will be Thursday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. at Hancock Church of God, 7528 Millstone Road, Hancock. The Rev. B. Terry Goodwin will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
