Mrs. Phyllis S. Stines, 80, of Ocala, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, in Ocala.

Born July 10, 1931, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joseph K. and Frances E. (Hoffman) Shaner. She moved to Ocala from Winter Haven, Fla., in 1998.

Phyllis was a member of Ocala West United Methodist Church. She was the secretary to the commander general at Fort Devans, Mass., and also worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the Veterans Administration.

Phyllis was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 72 of Homestead, Fla., the United States Ballroom Dancing Association, and the Ocala Dance Club. She loved ballroom dancing, and her most enjoyment came from family, friends, dancing and traveling.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband of 11 years, Warren J. Stines Sr., of Ocala; sister Jean Weagly and husband, George, of Hagerstown; a niece and nephew; stepchildren Susan Vaudreuil (David) of Dunnellon, Fla.; Warren J. Stines Jr. (Joanne) of Beverly Hills, Fla., Linda Paterson (Alan) of Crestview, Fla., Walter Stines (Stacey) of Inglis, Fla., Sandra Slack (Dennis) of Homosassa, Fla., and Kristen Durham (Norman) of Southbridge, Mass.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown.
