Bring school supplies to Lioness Club meeting

The regular meeting of the Hagerstown Lioness club will be Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Academy Theatre & Conference Center in downtown Hagerstown. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Members are asked to bring school supplies, which will be delivered to Children In Need. Bon-Ton coupon books will be distributed. The scholarship recipients and their families will be in attendance and the guest speaker will be Clayton Wilcox, superintendent of Washington County Public Schools. Cancellations or additional reservations should be called in by Sunday to 301-733-8647.

South High yard sale

The South High Alumni Association will sponsor a yard sale Saturday, Sept. 17, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the South Hagerstown High School parking lot. It costs $10 to rent a double space. Registration is required. For information or to reserve a space, call Christy at 301-416-7681.

Hagerstown Lions Club

Tuesday — The program will be presented by Russell Ruckman, director of business operations, and Colleen Winters, regional marketing manager for the Chambersburg (Pa.) Cardinals football team.

Peaceable Paws

Performance titles for dogs will be up for grabs Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Peaceable Paws, the dog-training facility in Fairplay. Competition will be in good manners, scent dog and tricks.

E. Russell Hicks

There will be a meeting for volleyball players and their parents Monday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. in the gym at E. Russell Hicks Middle School. Any girl interested in trying out should attend.
