St. Mary Catholic School gets $60K grant from Knott Foundation

August 22, 2011

HAGERSTOWN — St. Mary Catholic School in Hagerstown is the recipient of a $60,000 grant from the Marion I. and Henry J. Knott Foundation.

The grant will be used to expand, update and renovate the elementary and middle school science laboratory.

The renovation will offer students the opportunity for meaningful and productive scientific investigations, will enable them to gain the skills required to succeed in today’s challenging world and, hopefully, will spark interest in the field of science.

The renovation of the science lab has been ongoing during the summer months and the lab will be ready for use at the beginning of the 2011-12 school year.

St. Mary, on West Washington St. in Hagerstown, is the only pre-K through grade-eight Catholic school in Washington County and serves the Tri-State area.

Founded in 1977, the Marion I. and Henry J. Knott Foundation is a Catholic family foundation committed to honoring its founders’ legacy of generosity within the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
