Md. 85 closed after accident

BUCKEYSTOWN, Md. — Md. 85 south of Lime Kiln Road was closed for about six hours Sunday morning because the highway was blocked by a utility pole, wires and trees after a single-vehicle accident south of Frederick, Maryland State Police said.

State Police said Darselle Parker of Buckeystown was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla southbound on Md. 85 south of Keller Lime Plant Road when she fell asleep and the vehicle left the roadway, striking a tree and a power line support pole.

Parker was taken by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown. Her injuries were not life-threatening, according to a state police news release.

The accident was reported at 5:14 a.m. Sunday, according to a state police news release.

The highway was reopened at 11:15 a.m., state police said.

The State Highway Administration was called for assistance.
