FREDERICK, Md. — A man with a gunshot wound was taken to Meritus Medical Center on Sunday morning after Frederick Police heard multiple shots fired in downtown Frederick, according to a Frederick Police news release.
The police were in the area of West Patrick and North Bentz streets at 2:36 a.m. Sunday when they heard shots fired, police said. They found the man in the 200 block of West South Street with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.
The man’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
The shooting occurred in the area of Gaither Alley, east of Bentz Street, police said.
The man was involved in an altercation with someone in the alley, resulting in multiple shots being fired at the man, police said.
The suspect was a black man wearing dark clothes and was believed to have left the area in a blue, full-size van, police said.
