Audubon Society schedules Wee Naturalist classes

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — The Potomac Valley Audubon Society announces the fall schedule for its “Wee Naturalists” program.

The program is aimed at children ages 3 to 5. It is designed to provide regular opportunities for small children and adults to explore nature together safely under the guidance of an instructor. All sessions are held at the Society’s Yankauer Nature Preserve, on Whiting’s Neck in Berkeley County, north of Shepherdstown.

Sessions are from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The first session is Wednesday, Aug. 31. It is titled “Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!” Two sessions will be held each month through December, including  Sept. 21 and 22, “Footsteps in the Forest”; Oct. 19 and 20, “Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf”; Nov. 16 and 17, “Nature’s Art”; and Dec. 7 and 8, “Snowflakes and Snowbirds.”

The cost is $5 per child-adult team per session.
