Sections of Antietam Street scheduled to reopen

August 18, 2011

HAGERSTOWN — Antietam Street in Hagerstown is scheduled to reopen in two locations Thursday, according to the city of Hagerstown.

The westbound lane of West Antietam Street between Burhans Boulevard and West Washington Street is scheduled to reopen at 5 p.m.  It has been closed since 7 a.m. Tuesday so a storm drainage line in that location could be repaired.

East Antietam Street, which has been subject to periodic closures between King Street and Cannon Avenue since Wednesday, Aug. 10, is expected to reopen at 5 p.m. Thursday. Closure of the road there was part of the demolition of the former Washington County Hospital Complex.

Also, the eastbound lane of West Antietam Street, which remains closed to all traffic between Burhans Boulevard and Walnut Street, is scheduled to reopen at 5 p.m. Friday.  That lane closure, coupled with the closure of the westbound lane between Burhans Boulevard and Washington Street, has prohibited southbound traffic on Burhans Boulevard from turning onto West Antietam Street in either direction.
