Colonial event planned Saturday

Colonial Family Fun Day will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (weather permitting) at the Jonathan Hager House and Museum in Hagerstown's City Park.

Families will get the chance to participate in Colonial games and learn about the pastimes of families on the frontier. Registration is required on or before Friday.

Admission costs $5 per family.

Municipal Band to play

The Hagerstown Municipal Band will perform Sunday at the City Park band shell beginning at 7:30 p.m. This week's concert will feature a performance by trombone player Keith Smith.

Less than one week to go  

Washington County Public Schools will mark their first official day of the 2011-12 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 24. Wishing all of the parents, students and teachers a successful and rewarding school year ahead.

Five-mile run  

The 30th annual Gary Brown Memorial Five Mile Run will be Saturday, Aug. 27, on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath. The event begins at 8 a.m., with the start to kick off at Riverbottom Park in Williamsport.
