Golf tournament benefits Children's Village

Children’s Village of Washington County Inc. will host its 17th annual Keep our Kids Safe Four Man Scramble Golf Classic on Friday, Sept. 9, at Black Rock Golf Course.

A putting contest begins at 11 a.m. and the shotgun start will be at noon. The hole-in-one prize is $22,000 in cash.

Dinner follows the tournament. Lunch will be provided, sponsored by Provident Agency. The entry fee is $100 per person. Corporate sponsor packages are available, as well as hole and cart sponsor opportunities.

All proceeds benefit the Children’s Village life-safety education program.

Children’s Village is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free life-safety education to elementary school children in Washington County.

Church to hold block party Aug. 28

Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church will host a block party Sunday, Aug. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The event is free. It will include an inflatable bounce and dunk tank, reptiles, basketball shoot, balloon animals, door prizes, hand massages, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, books, food and snow cones.

HCC to hold annual golf tournament Sept. 16

Hagerstown Community College’s Alumni Association will hold its 19th annual golf tournament Friday, Sept. 16, at noon at Black Rock Golf Course in Hagerstown.

The tournament is open to the public and will feature a four-person scramble format. Cost is $95 per person and includes cart and greens fees, cart lunches, refreshments, post-tournament buffet dinner and awards banquet, as well as individual and team prizes. Participants will also have chances to win a new automobile, cash, cruise and airline tickets, pro shop gift certificates, golf equipment and more.

Sponsorships are available for individuals and corporations. Corporate sponsorship costs $575, which includes tee and green sponsorship and a foursome. Other sponsorships include a bring-a-foursome sponsorship for $380; a cart lunch sponsorship for $700; a beverage cart sponsorship for $500; an awards dinner sponsorship for $1,500; a tee or green sponsorship for $125; and/or a cart sponsorship for $75. Ads can also be placed in the golf program for $50. Individuals can be recognized as tournament patrons for $35 and can play golf for $95. Proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit HCC.
