On Aug. 13, 2011, Judith Anna (Ehlers) Kline, of 212 Maple Ave., Boonsboro, Md., passed away after a long and wonderful life of 98 years.

Born April 29, 1913, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of John Frederick and Lydia Waring Ehlers.

She was the sister of the late William Charles Ehlers of Lansdowne, Md., the late John Frederick Ehlers of Annapolis, Md., and the late Ruth Elizabeth Ehlers and Madeline Alberta Sands, both of Hagerstown.

Her husband, Lewis Burck Kline, preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, Class of 1931, and attended the former Marjorie Webster College for Christian Leadership Training.

A past member of Hagerstown Presbyterian Church, she and her late husband were members of the A Capella Choir and Chancel Choir, under the direction of the late Raymond Hollinger.

In addition, she was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the choir, an elder of the church and a holder of many other church leadership positions.

Before her marriage, she was office manager and physician’s assistant for the late Dr. William Hamilton Smith. After her marriage, she embarked on a full-time career as a loving wife and mother, who was known not only for her quiet and wise nature, but also for her sense of humor.

She volunteered with the Washington County Hospital’s Ladies’ Auxiliary for 10 years.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed difficult crossword puzzles, and passed the love of reading onto her children.

She is survived by three children, Pauletta N. Deiterich, Hagerstown, Md., Judith Kline Ford, Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Lewis Hamilton Kline of Waynesboro, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 11833 Greenhill Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21742; or to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Funeral services will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

The Rev. Dr. Renee Mackey will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
