Waynesboro Area Middle School vandalized Wednesday

Estimated several thousand dollars of damage done

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Waynesboro Area Middle School was vandalized Wednesday, police said.

The Waynesboro Police estimate several thousand dollars of damage was done to the school between 2:30 and 9:39 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the damage was discovered Wednesday at 9:39 p.m. when an officer was checking the rear parking lot on the south side of the building.

"He observed a trophy lying in the grass on the south side of the parking lot," the release stated.

"He continued around to the east side of the building, observed the plate-glass window that was located between the two doors just north of the music room doors had been shattered," police said.

A building search was conducted, and no one was found inside the building, according to the police report.

Police said numerous fire extinguishers were discharged, trophies were lying on the floor, the glass was broken out of the trophy case in the main lobby area of the school and trophies were lying on the floor.

The report also stated that a chair, which had been removed from a stack of chairs, was thrown on the floor. Interior and exterior windows were broken out and other items throughout the school were damaged, the report stated.

Police had no suspects and ask that anyone with information call the Waynesboro Police Department at 717-762-2132.
