Milton Linwood Strite, 70, of 1665 Mason Dixon Road in Greencastle, Pa., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at 7:25 p.m. at his home after a short battle with lymphoma.

Born Nov. 18, 1940, in Washington County, Md., he was the son of the late C. Merle Strite and Anna G. (Hostetter) Strite of New Oxford, Pa.

He was a member of Paradise Mennonite Church.

Milton was a self-employed farmer for 40 years, and more recently was employed as a sawyer by Shaffer Products LLC of Greencastle.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita M. (Bates) Strite, in 2002. He then married Eunice R. (Diller) Strite on June 4, 2004.

In addition to his mother and his wife Eunice, he is survived by two daughters Ellen (Mrs. David) Ebersole of Greencastle and Marietta (Mrs. Michael) Eby of Hagerstown, Md.; two sons, Jason M. (wife Rachel) Strite of Waynesboro, Pa., and James M. (wife Lorraine) Strite of Greencastle; two brothers, Lewis Strite of Virginia and Amos Strite of New Mexico; one sister, Rosa Zehr of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, C. Merle Strite, in 1988; and one brother, Marvin D. Strite, in 2007.

Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. at Millers Mennonite Church near Leitersburg, Md., with the Paradise Mennonite Church Ministry officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Paradise Mennonite Church on Air View Road, Hagerstown; and Monday one hour before services at Millers Mennonite Church.

The family requests that flowers be omitted.
