Ralph Regis McSherry, 83, of Pangborn Boulevard, Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born Feb. 24, 1928, in Wellsville, Ohio, he was the son of the late James F. and Genevieve Bishop McSherry.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He retired from Jamison Door Co. His last job was for the City of Hagerstown, working at the parking deck.

He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Temple.

He was a life member of the VFW.

His hobby was woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Doris McSherry; daughters, Cathy Ridenour and husband, Michael, Robin Hildebrand and husband, Robert C., Darlene Helman, and Jane Lorraine Collis and husband, Roger, all of Hagerstown, Peggy Robinson of Dargan, Debbie Duval and husband, Rick, of Mercersburg, Pa., and Linda Sellman and husband, Gary, of Boonsboro; one son, Victor Shawn McSherry of Hagerstown; two sisters, Rose Thompson and Mary Bartles; one brother, Vernon McSherry; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Larry G. Aikens will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Military graveside services will be conducted by Washington County AMVETS Post 10 and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, 770 Frederick St.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
