Legion to hold basket bingo

The Boonsboro American Legion (Clopper-Michael Post 10) will hold a basket and money bingo Saturday, Aug 13.

Tickets cost $20. Doors open at 4 p.m. Bingo begins at 6 p.m.

There will be 20 regular games and five specials. You must be 18 years old to play.

No food or drinks can be brought into the club.

 Tickets may be purchased at the legion.

Yard sale planned at church in Fairplay

New Covenant Fellowship Church in Fairplay will hold its annual yard and bake sale Saturday, Aug. 13, starting at 7 a.m.

Proceeds will benefit the women’s ministry.  

Spaces to rent cost $10 each. The church has a limited number of tables to rent for $5 each.

Citizens group to hold picnic  

Citizens for the Preservation of Pleasant Valley will hold a potluck picnic Sunday, Aug. 21, from 4 p.m. to sunset at the 1212 Harpers Ferry Road campgrounds.

Follow the signs once on the property.  

Lemonade and paper goods will be provided.  There will be plenty of parking spaces, picnic tables and a pavilion will be available. Bring insect repellent.

BHS Class of ‘77 to meet  

The Boonsboro High Class of 1977 will hold a 35-year reunion meeting Sunday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m. at Sherry Reeder Bingaman’s house in Boonsboro. Call 301-432-5034 or 240-217-0514 for directions.

Lions begin August events with pie call  

The Sharpsburg Lions began August activities with a pie call at Reeders Memorial Home Pie Call, Aug. 2, followed by a regular meeting in the den, Aug. 4.

The first cabinet meeting of the new Lions year will be held in the New Windsor Fire Hall Sunday.

The Lions are still looking for helpers to see the program and/or volunteer to bake a sheet cake or an angel food cake at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home monthly visit Aug. 11.

The second regular meeting will be held in the Den Aug. 18.

The Freedom District Lion - Lioness All-Day Basket Bingo will be held Aug. 27. There will be 20 games in the morning and 20 more in the afternoon.  Breakfast and lunch are available.  

The Sharpsburg Lions Club meets the first and third Thursdays at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main St., Sharpsburg.
