HAGERSTOWN — One person was injured Thursday afternoon in an accident in the parking lot of the Pizza Hut restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue near Longmeadow Road, Deputy Smith of the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

The accident happened when a red Chevrolet hit the back of another car parked in the parking lot. The Chevrolet then spun out of control onto the street and hit the median on Pennsylvania Avenue, Smith said.

The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Meritus Medical Center with minor injuries, Smith said.

The Chevrolet was moved to the Sheetz Car Wash parking lot next to the Pizza Hut. Smith said it would have to be towed away. The other car has already been towed away.

Traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue is not affected by the accident.

Police responded to the accident at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said.
