HAGERSTOWN — Traffic on Church Street has been reduced to two lanes from McPherson Street to North Burhans Boulevard (U.S. 11) for preventive maintenance, said John Kline, supervisor for the Hagerstown Water Department.

Traffic heading westbound is using the middle eastbound lane.

Maintenance is being done on a service line for the Thomas, Bennett & Hunter Inc. building at 410 N Burhans Blvd., according to Kline. Workers have been attending to the water pipes for that building all week.

On Monday, a water main broke when a crew from the Hagerstown Water Department was working on a service line for the Thomas, Bennett & Hunter Inc. building. Kline said that the maintenance being done Thursday is unrelated to that incident.

The road is expected to completely reopen this afternoon, Kline said.
