Vehicle crashes through guardrail on I-70

HAGERSTOWN — A red vehicle crashed through a guardrail on westbound Interstate 70 and drove off the highway Thursday morning, Trooper Thompson of the Maryland State Police said.

The accident happened between the Sharpsburg Pike (Md. 65) and Downsville Pike (Md. 632) exits (Exits 29 and 28). Police responded at 7:44 a.m., according to Thompson.

The driver refused treatment for injuries, Thompson said.

A friend of the driver's family drove her from the scene.

Police blocked off one lane of westbound I-70 westbound at around 7:50 a.m. I

Two firetrucks from the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Co. and a paramedic unit from the Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway were also on the scene.

The vehicle was towed away at 8:26 a.m., and the road completely reopened at 8:27 a.m.
