Back-to-School Night planned at Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire Elementary School will hold Back-to-School Night Monday, Aug. 22, from 6 to 7:45 p.m. A welcome/information session is planned from 6 to 6:30 p.m., followed by classroom visitation for grades K-5 from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and another round of visitation from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. All students and parents living in the Lincolnshire school district are invited to attend.

Food drive extended at Allegany Dental Care

Allegany Dental Care on Virginia Avenue in Halfway is extending its food drive due to the generous response of the community. Items received will be given to Food Resources Inc. to help restock the shelves. Donations of nonperishable food items will be accepted at the Virginia Avenue office on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of August.

Fashion show to benefit shelter  

A fashion show is planned Friday at the Ramada Plaza Hotel on Underpass Way in Halfway.

Back-to-School Expo planned at Valley Mall  

Valley Mall will hold its Back-to-School Expo Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. It will include local businesses featuring family-friendly products and services.

Free readiness assessment screenings by Meritus Medical Center's Total Rehab Care will be available. To prepare school-age children and those beginning kindergarten, a Meritus occupational therapist and speech-language therapist will be on hand to screen for fine motor and visual motor integration skills and articulation, receptive and expressive communication skills.

The Learning Center will have information available about its before-and-after school program.
