Motorcycle ride Saturday to benefit Humane Society of Washington County

August 03, 2011

Throttles Bar and Grill, at 236 Cumberland St. in Clear Spring, will hold its fourth annual Michelle Younker Memorial Ride Saturday to benefit the Humane Society of Washington County.

The motorcycle ride is being held by Wanda and Sam Mills of Throttles in honor of their friend Michelle Younker who died in August 2005.

"Michelle never had kids. She had two or three Great Danes all the time and just loved her dogs," Sam Mills said. "We wanted to do something in her honor, and we think holding this ride to benefit the shelter is something she would have liked."

"This is a really nice way to honor Michelle's memory and her love of animals," said Paul Miller, executive director of the shelter.

"We are honored that Wanda and Sam would include us."

Registration begins at 11 a.m., and the ride starts at noon. A light meal will be served at the tavern at the end of the ride and a DJ will provide entertainment. A $10 donation is requested and all proceeds from the ride will benefit the humane society.

For more information, call 301-842-0185.

The humane society is at 13011 Maugansville Road in Hagerstown. Call 301-733-2060 or go to www.hswcmd.org for information on animal-related issues, directions to the shelter and information about programs and services.
