Chambersburg boy injured after train accident

KAUFFMAN, Pa. — An 11-year-old boy suffered major injuries to his left leg in an incident involving a train Wednesday, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

Police said it appears the boy, who is from Chambersburg, Pa., was jumping off a train at 1:30 p.m. The incident occurred off Friendship Village Road about 100 yards south of Kauffman Road in Antrim Township, Pa.

"Investigation continues into how the juvenile got onto (the) train and where," the news release stated.

Norfolk Southern is conducting its own investigation into the incident, police said.
