BLACKSBURG, Va. — Jenna Lynn Shenk of Hagerstown received a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine on June 4 from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine.

She will complete her internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, Ore.

Shenk graduated with honors as a Sigma Sigma Phi and Alpha Omega Alpha honor society member, and was recognized as a distinguished scholar.

Shenk received her undergraduate degree in biology with concentrations in creative writing and chemistry in 2007 from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa.

She has spent much of the last four years serving rural Virginia and international communities in the Dominican Republic, Kenya, and post-earthquake Haiti.

She is the daughter of Jerry and Julie Shenk of Hagerstown.

WAYNESBURG, Pa. — Rebecca E. Rockwell of Boonsboro has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Waynesburg University.

She is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary/special education.

Rockwell, a senior, is a graduate of Boonsboro High School.

HARTFORD, Conn. — Cyrus S. Morgan of Summit Point, W.Va., recently received faculty honors for the spring semester at Trinity College.

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Alexander Morgan of Frederick, Md., recently was selected for a leadership position in the South Carolina Corps of Cadets at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.

Morgan will hold the cadet rank of captain as Romeo Company commander.

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Elizabeth Nicole Filkins, a senior from Frederick, Md., was named to the spring honor roll in the School of Education at the University of Kansas.

She is the daughter of David and Denise Filkins of Frederick. She is a graduate of Tuscarora High School in Frederick.

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. — Brandon Allen Briscoe has been accepted by Hampden-Sydney College and will enroll with an Alumni Award in August.

Briscoe is a graduate of St. Mary's Ryken High School in Leonardtown, Md., and is the son of Karen Milton of Frederick, Md., and Leon Walker of Washington, D.C.

SUMMERDALE, Pa. — The following area students were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Central Penn College.

  • Tiffany Thompson of Chambersburg, Pa., majoring in criminal justice administration
  • Victoria Dullen of Greencastle, Pa., majoring in advanced accounting certificate.

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Christopher Sponyoe, a junior from Frederick, Md., was  named to the dean's list for the spring semester at St. Bonaventure University.

Sponyoe is an accounting major.

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — Paul Curley of New Market, Md., was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Morrisville State College.

FRONT ROYAL, Va. — Keijerian (KJ) O.E. Graham, the son of Malkiyah Goldberg of Waynesboro, Pa., was named to the dean's list for the fourth quarter at Randolph-Macon Academy.

Graham is a sophomore.
