Fountain Head, Beaver Creek teams tie for eighth in Pro-Am

Local teams 8th in Pro-Am

PHOENIX, Md. — Golfers from Beaver Creek Country Club and Fountain Head Country Club finished in a tie for eighth place at the 55th Maryland State Golf Association Pro-Am on Tuesday at Hillendale Country Club.

Beaver Creek pro Dirk Schultz and amateur Ken Lampard had a pair of birdies on the way to a 2-under par-69. Fountain Head pro Jim Schouller and amateur Michael Weber had three birdies and a bogey in shooting a 69 in the one-day tournament.


Funkstown offers fall ball

Funkstown Legion Baseball will hold registration for its first fall baseball team on Friday and Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Funkstown Memorial Park pressbox.

The team is open to players attending high school in Washington County high school are eligible. Eighth grade playes will be allowed to tryout.

 Funkstown will play in the Tri-state League with teams from Maryland and West Virginia.

The fifth and final meet of the Back-on-Track Pete Wright Memorial All-Comers Series was held Tuesday at North Hagerstown High School.

Conococheague holds fundraiser

The Conococheague Little League will be selling Team Maryland T-shirts today and Thursday as a fundraiser for the 11-12 state champions trip to the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Bristol, Conn.

The sale will begin at 6 p.m. both nights at Byron Memorial Park, with all proceeds going to defer costs for the trip.
