Berkeley Springs woman accused of embezzling from Walmart
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Berkeley Springs, W.Va., woman is accused of embezzling about $1,400 cash from the Walmart store at Spring Mills this summer, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court documents.
Sherri Elaine Davis, 20, was arraigned Saturday on one felony county of embezzlement by Magistrate Harry L. Snow, according to court documents.
She was being Monday night in Eastern Regional Jail on $10,000 bail, according to court and jail records.
Police say Davis also admitted in a written statement to “bagging unpaid merchandise for other associates, family and friends, receiving bagged unpaid merchandise from other associates, and taking items such as chips, candy bars and sodas without (paying) for them,” according to a complaint filed in magistrate court by West Virginia State Police Trooper B.D. French.
When French questioned Davis about the allegations Friday night, the defendant allegedly indicated she had been employed by Walmart for three or four weeks, and began removing money from the cash register after about two weeks on the job, according to court documents.

Martinsburg man charged with invading woman’s privacy
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Martinsburg man was charged with invading the privacy of his ex-girlfriend after he allegedly threatened to post nude photographs of her on the Facebook social networking website, according to court documents.
Edward Archibald Singhas III, 28, of 145 Marva Court, was arraigned Sunday on four misdemeanor counts of criminal invasion of privacy by Berkeley County Magistrate Harry L. Snow, according to court records. Snow set bail at $14,000.
Singhas was later released from Eastern Region Jail, according to jail records.
The victim told police the photographs were taken while she was sleeping and without her consent, according to court documents.
Singhas claimed to have 104 images of the victim and allegedly threatened that he would post the photographs of her if she did not tell her friends to remove comments from Facebook, according to court documents.
He also allegedly threatened to send the images to her employer and family, according to court documents.
Apparent evidence of Singhas’ threats was contained in multiple text messages — which included nude photographs of the victim appearing to be asleep — from Singhas, according to court documents.
The text messages were reviewed by police, according to court documents.
Woman charged with child abuse
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A woman was charged with child abuse after her 12- and 14-year-old daughters arrived at City Hospital Sunday screaming that their mother had just beaten them, according to court documents.
Christine Annette Pannuty, 33, of 2050 Harris Way, Apt. 614, Martinsburg, was arraigned Sunday on one felony count of child abuse resulting in injury by Berkeley County Magistrate Harry L. Snow, according to court documents.
Snow set bail at $15,000, according to court records.
Pannuty was later released from Eastern Region Jail, according to jail records.
The youngest of the two girls was found with scratches and red marks on her neck, and a swelled lump on her forehead, according to court documents.
During questioning, the defendant appeared to be intoxicated and did not know if her children were at the apartment, Martinsburg Police said in court documents.
Pannuty denied striking her children, according to court documents.
