Hagerstown B upsets A at PONY region tourney

BOARDMAN, Ohio — The Hagerstown B All-Stars are the only remaining unbeaten team in the PONY East Zone West Region Tournament after a 4-3 upset victory over Hagerstown A in the winners’ bracket final on Saturday.

Cole Conrad pitched a three-hitter for Hagerstown B, which will play in the championship round Sunday at 12:30 p.m., facing the winner of a 10 a.m. matchup between Hagerstown A and East Ohio.

Hagerstown B trailed 3-1 with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, but gained the lead with a three-run inning, highlighted by Blake Harne’s two-run double.

Chase Eichelberger had two hits for Hagerstown B. Airin Martin and Josh Miller each struck out five for Hagerstown A, which beat East Ohio 12-2 earlier Saturday to reach the winners’ bracket final.

On Friday, Hagerstown B defeated Marietta, Ohio, 12-2. Eichelberger struck out seven and J.J. Cooper had two hits.
