July 27, 2011

Two people who allegedly robbed a Clear Spring liquor store at gunpoint last April have been charged with armed robbery and other counts, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

Rodney Allen Wright, 31, of 110 Beefy Drive, Martinsburg. W.Va., and Anna Mae Rice, 51, 311 W. King St., Martinsburg, also were charged with one count each of robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, theft, handgun use in a felony, reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Deputies said they identified Rice and Wright as suspects using anonymous tips and witness interviews.

The sheriff’s office said the robbery occurred April 2, when a woman and a man with a gun entered Clear Spring Liquors at 126 Cumberland St. The man then forced a person to the floor before taking about $500 from the cash register.

Deputies said they believe the suspects fled in a Dodge Durango with West Virginia tags.
