Boonsboro High class of 1948 gathers for reunion

The Boonsboro High School class of 1948 celebrated its 63rd reunion June 8 at Western Sizzlin’ on York Road in Halfway.

Fourteen class members, along with spouses and friends, enjoyed a buffet meal and fellowship.

Lucille Murray, reunion chairwoman, gave an update on the class members who could not attend.

A memorial service was conducted for the 28 deceased class members. The names were read by Peggy Beeler and a prayer was given by class member the Rev. Ralph Jamison.

Following the memorial service, Gerald Holmes gave an update on the Boonsboro High School Class of 1948 Memorial Award. The award was established in 1990 in memory of the deceased class members. The award is presented annually to an outstanding senior graduate at Boonsboro High School. This year, the award was presented to Charlotte Blair Whipp.

The reunion concluded with the awarding of door prizes. Maxine Palmer, a class member, donated the door prizes to all class members. Geraldine Crilly was recognized for making the favors for each place setting.

Gerald Holmes thanked the reunion planning committee for its hard work. A special thanks was given to Lucille Murray and Geraldine Crilly for their generous contributions.
