HAGERSTOWN — Memorial Boulevard will be closed to all traffic between South Potomac and Frederick streets beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday so that work crews can remove a large tree that fell across Memorial Boulevard during Friday’s storm.

Memorial Boulevard is expected to reopen to traffic by 4 p.m. Thursday.

Motorists approaching the closure will be detoured around the work area using other city streets, and should expect to encounter cones, barricades and other traffic-control devices.

Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through the work area while the tree is being removed.

In the case of inclement weather Thursday, the work will be rescheduled for Friday.
