MANSFIELD, Pa. — The following area students have been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Mansfield University:

  • Jeffrey Sievers of South Mountain, Pa.
  • Lilia Torres-Gonzalez of Waynesboro, Pa.



EWING, N.J. — Anita Rao of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from The College of New Jersey at a commencement ceremony on May 16.



MONT ALTO, Pa. — Justin E. Martinez of Mont Alto was awarded a scholarship by the Farber Foundation.

Justin was awarded a three-year scholarship to attend Lock Haven (Pa.) University, where he will pursue a degree as a physician's assistant.

Justin is the stepson of James Powell, an employee of Lion Ribbon Co., a subsidiary of Berwick Offray LLC.

The scholarship was awarded by the Farber Foundation as part of its program to award scholarships to children of employees of CSS Industries Inc. and its affiliated subsidiaries.



WILKES-BARRE, Pa. —  Jacquelyn Gallo of Waynesboro, Pa., is assisting Lisa Kadlec, associate professor of biology at Wilkes University, with her research this summer.

Gallo is a biology major at Wilkes University. All six of Kadlec's research assistants are using fruit flies to study genes that have been identified as possible targets of a particular growth-factor pathway.
