CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Two golfers shot under par on Monday in the Tri-State Junior Golf Association event at Chambersburg Country Club.

Hank Strickler, of Chambersburg, went 1-under to win the 16-18 age division, his first victory of the season. He cleared the field by eight strokes.

Max Bell, also of Chambersburg, continued his run in the 14-15 age division, also shooting a 1-under 72. Austin Green shot a 76 to place second.

Nick Franki took home first place in the 12-13 division, posting a 4-over 76.


Valley Juniors eliminated from state tourney

WALDORF, Md. — Valley gave up eight runs in the first inning and never recovered in a 14-0 losers’ bracket loss to Hughesville on Monday that eliminated Valley from the Maryland Junior League State Tournament.  

Valley was held to three hits — one each by Kyle Bywaters, T.J. Kuhn and Chris Hutzell.
