A Boonsboro man died Monday morning after his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck on Md. 66 near Beaver Creek, Maryland State Police said.

Rodger Dwayne Singleton, 33, of Boonsboro, was pronounced dead at Meritus Medical Center east of Hagerstown, according to a state police press release.

Troopers said Singleton was riding a 1991 Honda motorcycle north on Md. 66 (Mapleville Road) at about 5:30 a.m., when he collided with a 2007 Ford pickup that pulled into his path.

The release said that the driver of the pickup, Michael Ryan Warner, 23, of Monrovia, Md., was trying to turn left onto Interstate 70 from the southbound lane of Md. 66.

Warner was not injured. He was charged with negligent driving and failure to yield the right of way, troopers said.

Police shut down Md. 66 and were directing traffic until the scene was cleared around 7:30 a.m.

Community Rescue Service and the Funkstown and Mt. Aetna Fire departments assisted at the scene.
