WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Police believe a wanted man who eluded authorities Thursday could still be in the Waynesboro area.

A man believed to be Asmar King, 33, was walking in the 200 block of West Second Street on Thursday afternoon when a Waynesboro police officer saw him, police said.

Waynesboro Police Sgt. Mike Bock said King is described as “armed and dangerous” in warrant information. King is wanted in Washington County on several charges, including arson and malicious burning.

Authorities used a Maryland State Police helicopter in their 2 1/2-hour search for King. They set up a perimeter where he was walking.

Anyone with information about King’s whereabouts can call police at 717-762-2131.

“If you see him, call 911 and say he’s a wanted person,” Bock said.

Police received a few calls regarding King, but none had substantial information, Bock said. The fugitive is described as black, 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing about 185 pounds.
