Valley Juniors roll to stay alive at state tournament

Maryland Junior Tournament

WALDORF, Md. — The Valley Junior All-Star team remained alive in the Maryland Junior State Tournament on Sunday with an 18-4 victory over District 2 representative Four County after losing to West Salisbury late Saturday.

Valley opened the game with a six-run first inning and cruised to the win, eliminating Four County.

Andrew Bowers and Steve Clapper led the offense with three hits each, including a double apiece. Alec Hejduc had a double and single.

Valley, from District 1, continues on in the loser’s bracket today at 5:30 against Hughesville.

Maryland Senior Tournament
Maugansville plays Tuesday

WALDORF, Md. — The Maugansville Senior All-Stars, by virtue of its 8-7 victory over Elkton, will play Tuesday against Talbot, a 15-1 winner over West Salisbury.

The game will begin at 6 p.m. on Field 4 in Waldorf.
