BALTIMORE — Maryland Institute College of Art has announced that Erik DeVault of Hagerstown graduated summa cum laude with a BFA in animation.

DeVault participated in the college's commencement ceremony on May 16.

DeVault is the son of Dirk DeVault and Nancy L. DeVault.



UPLAND, Ind. — Bradley Richardson of Waynesboro, Pa., graduated from Taylor University on May 21.

Richardson received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.

He was named to the dean's list for the spring semester.


PITTSBURGH — Katie Barnhart graduated summa cum laude in May from Duquesne University.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts, majoring in Latin, from the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, and a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education Latin K-12 education, from the School of Education.

Katie was named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

She was included in "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."

While at Duquesne, Katie was involved in the Director's Circle, Integrated Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma, Lambda Sigma, Golden Key, Women's Leadership Society, Spirit Emerging Leaders Program, Phi Lambda Theta, Omicron Delta Kappa, Student Alumni Ambassador, School of Education Student Ambassador, Motor Board and was awarded the Dean's Teaching Fellow Award.  

Katie is the daughter of Mary Lou R. Barnhart and the late Steve Barnhart of Greencastle, Pa.


CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The following area students were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at the University of Charleston.

  •  Danielle Bishop of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., majoring in elementary education
  •  Danielle Cooper of Bunker Hill, W.Va., majoring in elementary education and universal design for learning
  •  Jessie Spates of Falling Waters, W.Va., majoring in business administration.


ARLINGTON, Va. — The following area students graduated in May from Marymount University.

  •  Melinda Powell of Frederick, Md., earned a Master of Arts degree in community counseling.
  •  Ericka Schmiester of Jefferson, Md., earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in fashion merchandising.
  •  Graham Sutherland of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Sutherland graduated magna cum laude and completed the college's honors program.


BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — The following area students graduated in May from Geneva College.

  • Christopher Slick of Chambersburg, Pa., received a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.
  • Russell Wheatley of Jefferson, Md., received a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.


FINDLAY, Ohio  — The following area students were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at the University of Findlay.

  • Macey Camplair of Frederick, Md., a pre-veterinary medicine/animal science major
  • Taylor Donley of Hagerstown, a pre-veterinary medicine major


HARRISONBURG, Va. — The following area students were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Eastern Mennonite University.

  • Joel DeWald of New Market, Md., a senior history social science, secondary education licensure major
  • Megan Grove of Greencastle, Pa., a senior peacebuilding and development major
  • Anita Hoover of Greencastle, a senior nursing major
  • Katarina Napfel of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., a sophomore biology major
  • Leah Risser of Greencastle, a senior liberal arts major
  • Austin Showalter of Waynesboro, Pa., a junior computer science major
