Keedysville schedules water outage on Tuesday

Water service for the town of Keedysville will be unavailable Tuesday, beginning at 9 a.m. and for most of the day. Ferri Contracting Inc. will install a new valve for the booster pump station. Residents are asked to plan accordingly. The inclement weather date for the outage will be Wednesday, beginning at 9 a.m.

Relay for Life meeting  

The American Cancer Society 2012 Relay for Life of Southern Washington County will hold an informational meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Nebo United Methodist Church, 134 S. Main St. in Boonsboro.

Fire company plans dinner  

Potomac Valley Fire Co. in Dargan will hold a shrimp and ham dinner Saturday, July 30, at the fire company building.  Doors open at 5 p.m.  Dinner will be served from 6 to 8 p.m.

A $15 ticket includes one pound of steamed shrimp, ham, baked beans, green beans, cole slaw, hush puppies and homemade rolls, sweet tea and coffee. Advance tickets may be purchased by calling Arnold at 301-964-9783 or Nancy at 301-432-2938.

Dance day planned

The Washington County Recreation Department will host its National Dance Day celebration at Rockland Woods Elementary School in the Westfield’s Community Development off Sharpsburg Pike on Sunday, July 31, from 1 to 4 p.m.


The event is free to the public. The event opens at 12:30 p.m. and interactive performances will begin at 1 p.m. in the air-conditioned school gymnasium.  

The celebration invites communities and individuals to express their creativity through all types of dance.

National Dance Day events are held to promote physical health and wellness across the nation by encouraging people of all ages to get up and dance.

Waters family reunion  

A reunion of the Waters family will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, at South County Park, 3106 Chestnut Grove Road, south of Sharpsburg. Pavilion No. 1 has been rented from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and includes electricity.  

Family members should bring enough food and drinks for their immediate family. Bring photos or items you want to share — there will be a scanner on site for copies.  

Also, there will be a tour of the Samples Manor Cemetery.
